Plains Camp is renowned for its unrivalled access to the titanic
struggle for survival between lion and buffalo. Located on a tree-covered
island in a 75,000 acre concession, the landscapes include grasslands,
open floodplains, mopane bushveld, and classic savannah. Spotted
hyena can also be seen in their own age-old conflict with the
lions. During the annual flooding the abundance of waterbirds
is simply astounding - with a multitude of herons, egrets, lapwings
and jacanas on show.
Selinda Camp is built on a wooded island on the banks of the
eastern Selinda Spillway with views across the waterways and the
palm studded floodplains characteristic of the area. Herds of
elephant feed on the islands, hippo wade out into the deeper channels,
tsessebe and blue wildebeest dot the plains, while red lechwe
are found on the fringe marshes.
Your accommodation is in large luxury tents with en-suite shower
and flush toilet. Hot water is available 24 hours. Each room has
comfortable beds and soft linens. Fans and mosquito nets are standard.
A shady veranda offers panoramic views over the wildlife filled
floodplains in front of the camp. Wildlife viewing is by vehicle,
boat, canoes and on foot.
