Dear Traveler 2012

Dear Travelers,

As you know, your vacation is my vacation too. I plan trips to places I want to see and experience. My list is long and inclusive, particularly for Latin America which holds the greatest natural history diversity on the planet. Other destinations, the continent of Africa, are uniquely compelling with the most amazing wildlife encounters on the planet.

How to decide where and when? If I go there and like it you will have the opportunity to return with me. Ideally, I travel first and then plan your experience from my experience.

When are you going?, the frequently asked question. I know some of the trips seem to be scheduled at less than ideal time, i.e. not getting us out of town over winter!  But… the timing is all about the best time of year for the purpose of the trip…and then as much as possible balanced with the best time not to be here.  For Central America Jan./Feb. is ideal great!  But, South America is not so easy. Now you are considering rainy vs. wet, and what’s happening in highlands vs. coast, and interior lowlands vs. highlands and coast! Of course in the end weather patterns are subject to change and even more so in the last decade.

So, for Peru we do our best to avoid the rainy season. Africa will be wonderful any day of the year, but drier conditions concentrate the migratory wildebeest herds (and may reduce the European tourists).  November is springtime in Patagonia, wildflowers in bloom everywhere and very importantly, penguins and sea lions on the shore!

2012 A Collection of Legendary Destinations!

  • Peru Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley & Manu National Park in Amazonia are locations featured in anyone's coffee table book on great places of the planet. Standing in the ruins complex on the peak of the mountain…mist swirling below…you will not believe you’re really there…

  • Africa the Great Migration Safari in Tanzania’s Serengeti Plains and Ngorongoro Crater - It is difficult to convey the Africa wildlife experience - if you ever thought about it - go now. It will be better than you can imagine. A brand new itinerary, sure to get us the Big Five, just to start!

  • Argentina's Patagonia is outstanding among the planet’s unique ecosystems. It is the most ‘away’ you will ever feel yet the wildlife is vibrant and the scenery spellbinding whether hiking in the mountains, boating across glacial lakes and rocky coasts, or motoring across the plain. Add to that some of the most comfortable lodges you'll find anywhere.

Your choice - CNT strives to give you the best locations with the best lodging.
