Dear Traveler Fall 2010
Dear Travelers, April, 17, 2010
Ceiba Nature Tours had two great trips this winter. Our Guatemala
tour included a volunteer service project with Volunteer Peten.
(www.volunteerpeten.org )We painted, prepared curriculums, assembled
desks, and led field trips on birdwatching. We’re planning
on returning in early January 2011.
Costa Rica was just about perfect – some trips are like
that. All the birds and animals show up as if on cue! You want
the sungrebe, sunbittern, and pygmy kingfisher one after the other
– see how the JC lizard got its name – long looks
at m/f Resplendent Quetzals? I threatened a surcharge for the
cooperative wildlife and outstanding weather. (a joke!)
Last September I scouted in Brazil’s Pantanal and made
some excellent connections, as well as seeing my first jaguar!
The result is this year’s offering of nine nights/ten days
of wildlife watching. A vast landscape, the preferred vehicle
is a safari-style truck allowing super visibility on morning,
afternoon, and nighttime drives.
Patagonia is singular among the planet’s unique ecosystems.
It is the most ‘away’ you will ever feel – yet
the wildlife is vibrant and the scenery spellbinding whether hiking
in the mountains, boating across glacial lakes and rocky coasts,
or driving across the plain. Springtime is always the best time
for mountains and desert, flora and fauna in great display. The
trip is shortened - keeping to the heart of Patagonia!
Thinking about Ceiba Nature Tour’s June 2011 Africa Safari
to Botswana and Zambia?
I welcome the opportunity to discuss the details of this trip,
based on my experiences in 2006. In addition to Botswana’s
Okavango Delta the itinerary now includes Zambia’s Victoria
Falls.
Due to the logistics of planning a two-week safari and the individual
nature of CNT trips, I am seeking an early commitment including
a $1500 deposit per person by July 2010. Ten is the maximum number
for the trip, some of the camps can accommodate no more than our
group; six is the minimum for the tour to operate. If six persons
have not reserved by August 30, all deposits will be returned
in full.
Botswana and Zambia are two of the safest countries on the African
continent. The fly-in safari, operated by Passage to Africa, provides
the best possible means of immersion into the African landscape.
Great Plains Conservation owns and operates our exceedingly comfortable
Camps complete with full service and excellent staff. I am particularly
pleased to be working with Great Plains Conservation and contributing
to their mission as I trust you will be too. This is truly the
trip of a lifetime for all of us!
Information is available online or by calling and it will be
in the mail. If you prefer, schedule a personal meeting to thoroughly
discuss every aspect of the itinerary.
